Do you spend money on yourself? Or is it all about other people?
For years, I found it easy to spend money on other people. But when it came to treating myself all my inherited messages flooded in:
“You don’t need that.”
“Put others first.”
“Be grateful for what you have.”
I associated spending on myself with selfishness, guilt, or even danger, because I grew up in survival-mode household where resources were scarce. Plus at some subconscious level I was still seeking approval from other people. It felt as if I had to ‘buy’ people’s love.
I can’t remember the exact turning point in my journey but at some point I realised that I am my best investment. Since then, I’ve made it a practice and I have consistently invested in my own healing and growth since 2007.
Right now, I’m working with:
the best tapping specialist in the world, who’s helping me to release limiting beliefs,
an incredible business coach, who’s helping me to expand,
a gifted kinesiologist and strategist, who’s supporting me with feeling aligned,
a transformational success coach, who’s got some serious magic,
an incredibly talented energy healer, who’s deepening my capacity to track energy,
Edward Mannix, who’s offering a certification in Health,
three spiritual teachers — one of whom has taught presence and awakening work for nearly as long as I’ve been alive
This year alone, I’m doing seven different certifications. Yes, seven (I’ve already completed five of them).
Why?
Because I walk my talk.
So far this year, I have invested nearly £55K in my personal and professional development! (I’ve actually sat down with my numbers and totted them up this morning).
I used to think that spending money on others makes me a better person. But now I know for a fact that when I invest in myself, it’s not *just* about me.
It means I can support my clients better. I am more present with my children. I’m a better person who can make a bigger contribution to this world.
The ripple effect is exponential.
So if you’ve felt the call to support others, start by investing in yourself. Your children, clients and people around you will thank you for years to come.
