Invisible Contracts: How to Keep Things Clean
I once had a friend who was incredibly generous. Whenever I visited, they would shower me and my children with gifts. It was beautiful and heartwarming at first—I felt cared for and loved.
But over time, I began to feel the pressure to reciprocate. Shopping has never been my forte, and I started to worry that I could never match their generosity. Instead of enjoying their kindness, I felt awkward, indebted… and eventually, I found myself avoiding them altogether.
They never asked me for anything. Yet there was this invisible contract hanging between us—an unspoken sense of obligation that made the relationship heavy.
This same dynamic often plays out in healing work. When you give free or discounted sessions, your intention is pure generosity.
But for the receiver, it can create an energetic debt. Even when they truly need support, they may hesitate to return, because deep down they feel they owe you something.
By charging for your healing gifts, you clear all of that.
It becomes simple and clean: they pay, you deliver, it’s complete.
No invisible contracts, no energetic debts, no awkwardness.
So the next time you feel pulled to give a free session, pause. Ask yourself: Will this truly serve them—or am I unknowingly creating an unintended hidden burden?
