What your secrets cost you

For a long time, I was an 'expert' at forgetting my past. I even moved to another country so I could get away from my secrets. Except the pain came with me to England.

In my experience, forgetting doesn't work, and neither does keeping something secret. You don't have to tell the world or write a book like I did. There's another way.

But first, let me tell you what actually goes on in your system.

The more painful the experience, the louder that wounded part of you becomes, trying to get your attention. The longer you ignore it, the noisier it gets.

And it doesn't just live in your mind, it's lodged in the cells of your body. Even if your mind manages to blank it out, your body keeps the score, and sooner or later it'll drag the past out through some illness.

When you push a wounded part away, you split. Some parts of you are allowed, and others are not welcome.

You feel tired before you've even done anything, because you're draining energy on suppressing parts of you. You often feel conflicted and torn, and decision-making feels like torture because not all parts of you are onboard – they keep pulling you in opposite directions.

That split erodes your sense of self. It's hard to feel whole and integrated while you're actively suppressing parts of yourself. It's hard to accomplish anything from that place too, it affects your productivity, your creativity, your health. And it's hard to feel authentic or truly connected with other people, when you've had to disconnect from yourself first.

Now, it's not your fault. At some point, that suppression might have saved your life. You needed it to survive. It's an extraordinary capacity the human psyche has.

But it comes at a cost.

This is exactly what I want to explore together on 23 October, on a live healing call marking Fragile Freedom's second birthday: secrets, the split they create, and what happens energetically when you finally let a part of yourself back in.

If you've already read Fragile Freedom or Hammer, Sickle and Broom, I'd be so very grateful for a short review or testimonial on Amazon or Goodreads before the call.

You can find the details of Fragile Freedom here.

P.S. Want to join my next Gratitude Circle on 27 October? Share this event with your friends on socials 3+ times (think bigger than 3 people), tag me or send me the screenshots and you'll be invited to receive a 60-min healing of the heart.

Warmest wishes,
Gulara
