Why Charging For Your Services is NOT Optional
I work with a lot of lightworkers, healers, and therapists. Many of them have big hearts. They want to save the world. They want to help everyone who needs them. They want to give far more than they receive.
But here’s the problem.
When there’s no fair exchange between you and your client, you can accidentally disempower them.
You see, if your client isn’t fully invested in their own healing — financially and otherwise — you end up having to rescue them. And that can place them in the role of a victim. (After all, you don’t go around rescuing people who are capable of helping themselves, right?)
It can also leave the client feeling indebted to you. And when someone feels indebted, they often react. Perhaps you’ve experienced it — someone you helped a lot turns against you and starts blaming or persecuting you. Then you feel like the victim.
We can easily get stuck in this victim–rescuer–persecutor triangle.
It stifles your growth and blocks your clients’ transformation.
In the long run, it serves no one.
There’s another layer to this pattern.
Very often, the urge to rescue others has more to do with you than with them.
It can make you feel good — like you’re being a kind, generous person. But in my experience, this can sometimes be driven by younger, wounded parts of your psyche who weren’t rescued when they needed support.
So now, you’re giving to others what you longed to receive yourself.
But no matter how much you give, it’s unlikely to fill that inner void.
And let’s be honest — you can’t help anyone if you’re exhausted and burnt out from trying to save everyone.
What if you could charge appropriately, and in doing so…
- create better outcomes for your clients,
- build a better life for yourself and your family,
- and have more capacity to help even more people — sustainably?
Because charging isn’t about being selfish. It’s about honouring the exchange, creating real transformation, and finally stepping out of old patterns that keep everyone small.

This is because you might be carrying past-life vows of poverty, ancestral beliefs about money and success, or even deep-seated imprints that say you need to justify your existence — patterns that began before you were even born. These energetic bonds can run deep.
