When I Was A Persian Princess

I had a past life time exploration of my visibility blocks recently and encountered a curious experience.

The past life time version of me showed up as a young beautiful Persian princess. She looked graceful, intelligent and had everything at her disposal.

I must admit, I was surprised. Why would she show up? She had it all, after all.

But as I tuned in, the past life time memory started to make sense.

Although surrounded by people all the time, she felt utterly alone.

People were jealous of her beauty and opportunities. She was served by an army of servants, who undermined her every step.

Her mother died at childbirth. Her father was a good king who looked after the well-being of his people.

She felt like she couldn’t add to his burdens with her petty concerns. Women’s disagreements were assigned to women’s quarters. Her dad was caring for the whole country and she was not to add to his worries.

So she started dimming her light, first hiding her intellect, then covering up her beauty to ward off her servants’ envy.

When the king died, yet again she felt betrayed by the backstabbers. They squandered the king’s wealth, leaving her on the street with nothing.

Although the circumstances of my life are different, I so resonated with the need to dim my light. I've spent years scared to celebrate my success out of fear that people might react exactly like this.
